Description
Waves come in all shapes and sizes, but few are as dramatic as those at the world-renowned Wedge in Newport Beach, California. Known for its powerful shore-break, the Wedge puts on a spectacular show when the conditions line up just right. On this particular day, an incoming high tide collided with an 8 to 10-foot swell, creating explosive wave action. As the waves crashed onto the steep beach, the backwash surged down the slope and collided with the next incoming wave, forming a unique and chaotic explosion of water,,, I call this kind of formation a "Pinwheel Shore-break" It's nature’s power and beauty on full display.
