Description
Half Dome, one of Yosemite National Park’s most iconic granite formations, holds a legendary place in the history of rock climbing. Its massive, sweeping face was first climbed in 1957 by Royal Robbins, Jerry Gallwas, and Mike Sherrick via the Northwest Face—marking the first Grade VI climb in America. This groundbreaking ascent paved the way for modern big wall climbing, showcasing bold techniques and sheer determination. Over the years, Half Dome has seen countless ascents, from classic aid routes to free solo climbs, most famously by Alex Honnold in 2008. Its towering presence and rich climbing history continue to inspire generations of climbers from around the globe.
